Scope and privacy contact

Lowly is an independently run personal project based in Sweden. This policy covers the Lowly website at getlowly.com and the Lowly browser extension. It explains the different information handled when you visit the website, use the extension, or send us a message.

Extension data

Lowly uses product-page information in your browser to find and display similar listings. Lowly does not require an account and does not retain your personal browsing history.

Extension data, including saved wishlist items and preferences, is stored locally in your browser rather than on Lowly's servers. Lowly does not maintain a server-side copy of this data.

You control how long locally stored data remains by removing saved items or clearing the extension's stored data in your browser. Lowly cannot recover that data from a server backup after you delete it.

The website analytics described below is separate from the extension's product-matching functionality. The website's welcome and uninstall pages can also use website analytics if you accept it.

Contact messages and uninstall feedback

When you use the contact form, you provide your name, email address, selected topic, and message. We use that information only to review and respond to your inquiry. It is not used for marketing, sold, or added to a separate customer database.

The optional uninstall-feedback form asks only for a message, which we use to understand problems and improve Lowly. It does not ask for your name or email address. Any personal details you choose to include in the message will still be received by us.

Both forms deliver messages to Lowly by email through Simply.com. The website does not create a separate customer database from these submissions, but the messages are stored in our email system.

Submitting either form is optional. The contact form requires a name, valid email address, topic, and message so that we can handle your inquiry. The uninstall form requires only the feedback text. Please avoid including passwords, payment details, or other sensitive information.

Not asking for a name or email does not make a visit to the uninstall page anonymous: the hosting and analytics processing described below can still occur.

Website hosting and technical information

Simply.com hosts the Lowly website and provides its email service. When you visit the website or submit a form, your browser connects to Simply.com's hosting service. Delivering the requested content involves processing technical information such as your IP address, the requested page or resource, and request headers sent by your browser.

The hosting service may record access and error logs containing request times, requested URLs, response status, IP addresses, and browser information. These records can support website operation, troubleshooting, and protection against abuse.

Website analytics and cookies

With your consent, the home page, welcome page, and uninstall page use Google Analytics 4 to measure website visits and usage. Analytics can process page views, referring pages, interactions, approximate location, and browser and device information, together with identifiers used to distinguish browsers and sessions.

Our legal basis for this analytics processing is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. The shared cookies and analytics panel appears on your first visit, whichever page you arrive on. Google Analytics is not loaded unless you select “Accept analytics”. Your choice applies across the whole Lowly website. You can reject analytics and continue using the website. Use “Cookie settings” in the footer to reopen the panel, change your choice, or withdraw consent by selecting “Reject analytics”.

We use this information to understand how the website is used and improve it. We do not intentionally send names, email addresses, or contact-form messages to Google Analytics.

Analytics uses the first-party cookies _ga and _ga_3NEMPVTPSR to distinguish visitors and maintain session information. We configure their lifetime to 180 days without extending expiry on each visit; your browser may shorten that period. Cookie expiry is separate from how long analytics data is stored by Google. Advertising consent remains denied, and we disable Google Signals and advertising-personalisation signals in our website configuration.

We store your analytics choice, the time of your choice, and a consent version in your browser's local storage under lowly-cookie-consent. We use this record only to remember and apply your choice, and treat it as expired after 180 days. If browser storage is unavailable, your choice applies only to the current page. Withdrawing consent stops future analytics collection and removes accessible Analytics cookies for this website; it does not automatically erase data Google has already received.

If you close the panel without choosing, Analytics stays off. We store lowly-cookie-panel-dismissed in session storage to avoid repeating the prompt as you move between pages in the same tab. This dismissal lasts for the tab's browsing session and is not consent.

Fonts

This website uses the Nunito Sans typeface. The font files are hosted locally on our server, so loading them does not cause your browser to connect to Google Fonts or transmit information to Google.

Compliance and disclosure

Lowly is an independent discovery tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Amazon.com, Inc. We are not owned, operated, or controlled by Amazon or any of its affiliates, and Amazon is not responsible for the functionality, security, or performance of this extension.

While Lowly strives to find similar and matching products, accuracy relies on the product title information provided by sellers. Lowly is designed as a guide to help you explore options, not as a definitive source. We strongly advise verifying product details, specifications, and seller information before making a purchase. You are always the final decision-maker.

Sharing and retention

We do not sell personal information. The services involved in operating this website include Simply.com for website hosting and email and Google Analytics on the pages identified above. Each receives information relevant to its role, as explained in the corresponding sections. Following a link to an external website sends information to that website.

We delete contact messages and related correspondence from our mailbox within 90 days after the inquiry and any follow-up are resolved. We delete uninstall-feedback messages within 90 days after we finish reviewing and handling them. We may retain specific messages longer where necessary to meet a legal obligation or establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim; we delete them when that reason no longer applies.

This 90-day period applies to messages in our mailbox. It does not describe the lifetime of browser-stored extension data, hosting logs, provider backups, or Google Analytics data.

Google's services may involve processing outside your country, including in the United States. Their linked privacy information explains Google's international processing. You can contact us with questions about the services involved in handling your information.

Your rights and choices

You can request access to personal data Lowly holds about you, such as contact messages you have sent us. Your saved extension data stays locally in your browser: Lowly has no server-side copy to retrieve, change, or delete for you. If we hold no personal data relating to your request, we will tell you. Where website records cannot be linked to you, we will explain any resulting limitations.

Where the GDPR applies, you have the following rights, subject to its conditions and exceptions:

• Request access to your personal data and a copy of it.
• Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Request deletion of your data or restriction of its processing.
• Object to processing based on legitimate interests, on grounds relating to your particular situation.
• Receive data you provided in a portable format where processing is automated and based on consent or a contract.
• Withdraw consent at any time where processing relies on it, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
• Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, particularly in the EU/EEA country where you live, work, or believe an infringement occurred.

Email support@getlowly.com to make a request. Please provide enough information to locate the relevant data. We may need proportionate information to verify your identity. We normally respond within one month; if a lawful extension is needed because a request is complex or there are numerous requests, we will explain it within that month.

In Sweden, you can lodge a complaint with Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY), the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection. You can also find other EU/EEA supervisory authorities in the European Data Protection Board's directory. You do not need to contact us before making a complaint.

You also have these practical controls:

• Use “Cookie settings” in the footer to manage the shared website-wide analytics choice. Selecting “Reject analytics” withdraws any previous analytics consent.
• You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Deleting cookies does not delete information already received by a service.
• You can use Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
• You can choose not to submit contact details or uninstall feedback.
• You can remove saved extension data locally and uninstall Lowly through your browser's extension settings. Emailing us cannot clear data held only in your browser.
